June 28 2019 Wasco Reserve defeated the California City Whiptails 11-9 after building an 11-7 lead through six innings and holding off a late California City rally. Wasco finished with 10 hits, while California City collected 14. Both teams committed two errors.
California City scored five runs in the third inning to take a 6-1 lead, but Wasco answered with two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the sixth. The Whiptails added a run in the sixth and two more in the ninth, but Wasco Reserve closed out the victory.
Ethan Skowronski drove in four runs for Wasco Reserve and went 2-for-5. Austin Hoffman went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBI, while Tyler Dupree added two hits, two runs and an RBI. Luke Jackson also homered and drove in a run. For California City, Ben Tingen went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and Edwin Stanberry had three hits and two RBI.
Alex Hernandez earned the win for Wasco Reserve after allowing 10 hits and seven runs, four earned, in six innings while striking out three. Justin Crider worked 2 1/3 innings and Matthew Fountain recorded the save with two-thirds of an inning of scoreless relief. Lukus Holub took the loss for California City after surrendering six runs in 4 1/3 innings.
