July 5 2022 The Monterey Amberjacks scored six runs in the seventh inning to pull away for an 8-4 victory over Wasco Reserve. Monterey finished with 10 hits and no errors, while Wasco also collected 10 hits but committed two errors.
Monterey led 2-1 after five innings before Wasco scored twice in the sixth to take a 3-2 advantage. The Amberjacks answered with six runs in the seventh, and Wasco added one run in the bottom half. Braden Scrivner doubled and drove in one run, while B. Flaherty, Brenden Spaulding, Vaughn Parker, Jordan Anderson, Tom Fitzpatrick and Nick DeWitt each recorded an RBI. Flaherty had three hits, and Scrivner had two hits and three walks.
Wasco’s Abimael Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Ben Osborne and Mario Ramsey also had two hits apiece, while Emmanuel Ocassio added an RBI double.
Omar Tapia earned the win after allowing two hits and one run over 1.2 innings. Lucas Sherman worked 5.1 innings for Monterey, allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out two. Ike Horn took the loss for Wasco despite striking out six in 6.2 innings; he allowed eight hits, five runs and 10 walks. Brody Perkes retired the only batter he faced with a strikeout.
