June 19 2022 The Trinidad Triggers defeated Wasco Reserve 18-6 after scoring 11 runs in the eighth inning to break open a six-run game. Trinidad finished with 20 hits, while Wasco collected nine. The Triggers also overcame three errors to secure the victory.
Trinidad built an early lead with one run in the second inning and five more in the third. Wasco answered with one run in the third and one in the fourth before scoring twice in both the seventh and eighth innings. The Triggers led 7-4 entering the bottom of the eighth and then sent 11 runs across to put the game out of reach.
Peter Bocchino went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI for Trinidad. Yasushi Sanematsu scored four runs and drove in three while reaching base four times, and Zach May added two hits, three runs, two RBI and a home run. Adam Purdy had two hits, two runs and one RBI, while Nick Sciubba went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Wascos Jesus Grimaldo hit a home run and finished 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBI; Ben Osborne added one hit and two RBI.
Derrick Sylve earned the win for Trinidad, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in seven innings while striking out seven. Dakota Rodd pitched one inning and allowed two runs, and Isaac Olson completed the game with a scoreless ninth, striking out two. Phillip Rowland took the loss for Wasco after allowing six earned runs on seven hits in three innings.
