July 20 2021 Wasco Reserve rallied past the Monterey Amberjacks 16-14 in a high-scoring game at Wasco Recreation Ballpark. Wasco collected 10 hits and overcame Monterey’s 12-hit attack, with the winning run total coming across in the eighth inning after the teams were tied 14-14 through seven innings.
Monterey scored eight runs in the fifth to take a 10-7 lead, but Wasco answered with six runs in the bottom of the sixth to move ahead 13-10. The Amberjacks regained a 14-13 advantage with four runs in the seventh before Wasco scored once in the seventh and twice in the eighth to secure the victory.
Mario Ramsey powered Wasco with a home run and three RBI, while Jesse Melendez went 2-for-3 with three RBI and three walks. Cameron Stimpson added two hits and two RBI. Monterey’s AJ Pollack went 3-for-4 with three runs two RBI and two walks, and Adrian Martinez had three hits and four RBI. Jacob Lagos also recorded three hits and drove in a run.
Ike Horn earned the win for Wasco by throwing two scoreless innings with one strikeout and no hits allowed. Domonique Hernandez contributed two innings without an earned run, and Yusei Teraoka worked 1.1 scoreless innings. Marc Oddo took the loss for Monterey after allowing three runs in 2.1 innings.
