July 17 2021 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated Wasco Reserve 15-9 after collecting 19 hits and overcoming an early deficit. Wasco scored five runs in the first inning, but Bakersfield answered with six runs in the second to take the lead and added runs in the fourth sixth seventh and eighth innings. Wasco scored once in the third seventh and twice in the ninth but could not close the gap.
Colton Whitehouse led Bakersfield with four hits three runs and three RBI. Dakota McFadden went 3-for-5 with two runs four RBI and a home run, while Seth Strong added three hits two runs and two RBI. Brandon Douglas drove in a run, and Bakersfield also received two hits and two runs from Austin Stephens and two hits and two runs from Malcolm Smith.
Wasco was paced by Daunte Freeman, who collected three hits and four RBI, including a home run. Gary Mason Jr. had one hit and two RBI, while Christian Thorpe added two hits. Bakersfield finished with 19 hits and five errors, compared with nine hits and three errors for Wasco.
Austin Stephens earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing seven hits and seven runs over seven innings, with two earned runs, six walks and six strikeouts. Jarrod Rivera worked the final two innings, allowing two runs on two hits. Daniel Quiroz took the loss for Wasco after surrendering nine runs, six earned, on nine hits in three innings.
