July 9 2021 The Bakersfield Train Robbers held off Wasco Reserve 9-8 after a back-and-forth game at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield collected 14 hits while Wasco finished with 12, and both teams committed two errors.
Wasco Reserve led 1-0 after the first inning and added runs in the fourth and sixth before scoring three times in the seventh. Bakersfield answered with one run in the second, three in the third, one in the fifth and three in the seventh. Wasco tied the game with a run in the top of the ninth, but Bakersfield scored the decisive run in the bottom half.
Dakota McFadden led Bakersfield with three hits, three runs and six RBI, including his third home run of the season. Colton Whitehouse scored three runs and drove in two, while Justin Carey had three hits and one RBI. For Wasco, Willie Barcena went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Gary Mason Jr. had two hits, four RBI and his second home run.
Jarrod Rivera earned the win after allowing two hits and one unearned run in one inning. Luke Kelley pitched seven innings for Bakersfield, allowing 10 hits and seven runs, five earned, while striking out five. Nick Ray took the loss for Wasco despite pitching 8.1 innings, giving up 14 hits and nine runs, six earned, with one walk and one strikeout.
