July 20 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated Wasco Reserve 9-5 at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark, overcoming an early deficit with a seven-run third inning. Bakersfield finished with 15 hits, while Wasco collected seven. The Train Robbers also hit two home runs, one each by Jarel McDade and Noah McGowan.
Bakersfield scored once in the first inning before Wasco answered with a run in the second. The Train Robbers broke the game open with seven runs in the third, taking an 8-1 lead. Wasco scored twice in the fourth and twice in the fifth to cut the margin to 8-5, but Bakersfield added an insurance run in the sixth and held Wasco scoreless over the final four innings.
McDade led Bakersfields offense by going 4-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and one RBI. McGowan drove in three runs while reaching base four times with one hit and three walks. Tyler Baumann added two RBIs, and Noah Etheridge also drove in two runs. Ben Tingen contributed three hits, while Hidekel Abreu and Deandre Smith each had two hits.
George Rodriguez earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing six hits and five runs in five innings, with three runs earned, five walks and two strikeouts. Matt Wheeler followed with two scoreless innings, and Andres Rios completed the game with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Wasco starter Alex Hernandez took the loss after surrendering nine hits and eight runs in 2 2/3 innings.
